With the recession claiming its victims in America it seems that technology companies with America as a base should be avoided but European base can be taken into account. Also the effect of American crash is yet to be absorbed fully by our Indian markets so my sincere advice is that a new investor should not enter the market in such volatile period and yes, a horizon of two to three years is required before this crash is fully accounted for.

Thanks for the analysis.I agree with you about the need to have a 3 to 4 year holding period in the market for stocks purchase.even then i wouldn’t buy just yet,as the market in my view still has to go way down.
In Pakistan the stocks to buy are banks, fertilizers and POL.
for the short term my bets are on Gold and Silver....depending on how the world economy fares gold could even be long term-but need to keep a close watch for reversal.
